Boys’ “First” 4th

Posted in Holidays, Uncategorized by

No, this wasn’t their first 4th of July….their 3rd actually.  But, it was their first time to experience the fireworks.  The first year they were almost 6 months old and I was more worried about the fireworks waking up my babies!  Last year we had been to the lake house all day and only saw the fireworks on our drive home, which they slept through.  So, this year we got sparklers and poppers and a few others and they LOVED them!  We went to Kiki & Pappy’s house for dinner and then let them play and it was hysterical!  Sutton would just throw the poppers on the ground one by one without even looking.  Fynn liked to put them on the driveway and then step on them.

Since Fynn can be a bit of a weeny I suggested we use the plastic cups as shields (something I saw on Pinterest) and it worked great!

After our fireworks we headed down to the river to watch the BIG fireworks!

We ended up waiting a while because we wanted to be there early when the jets flew over.  They had some airplanes at first, which the boys were glued to for at least 20 minutes and once the jets flew overhead Fynn FREAKED OUT!  Sutton loved them!  Fynn, not so much.  Well, not so much until Pappy said HE liked the jets…then of course Fynn had to announce, “I like the jets!”

Side note: Sutton has become attached to this random cover to the Toy Story 2 movie case.  It is so worn out and we somehow managed to get two of them so he always wants Fynn to carry the other.

I’ve seen countless firework shows in my 31 years of living but seeing it through my kids’ eyes for the first time was so cool.  They were mesmerized!

Hope everyone had a great 4th and THANK YOU to all our service men and women for protecting our FREEDOM!

Until next post…

Thanksgiving 2011

Posted in Holidays by

This was the boys’ 2nd Thanksgiving and it was so much more fun!  Jason’s uncle Kelly and his wife Anne came to visit from Kansas City and brought their yellow lab, Moose.  Sutton was IN LOVE!!

Sutton was so sweet with Moose and just got so giddy with excitement every time he saw Moose.  He would say his name and it sounded so cute!!  I would LOVE to get the boys a dog but it will be a year or two.

On Thanksgiving day the kiddos got to play while the ladies finalized the last touches for our amazing meal!

We got to go outside and run around, which was nice since it wasn’t too cold out.

Cousin Eric giving some love to Sutton!

Elliot was enjoying the pre-meal snack of leaves and grass so Sutton was kind enough to help her find more!

Cousin Eric & Sutton wanted to watch Jason cut the ham!

This year we got to put the boys at a little table instead of high chairs!

They did really good sitting and eating their food but Sutton did end up in Kiki’s lap getting fed and his

favorite was cranberry salad.

After that HUGE meal we took a quick walk around the block!

These three look like they are up to no good.

Walking with our Kiki.

Sutton loved it when Moose gave him kisses.

After our meal was cleaned up we all kind of laid around and then started the annual family tradition of

GAME NIGHT!

We can sit and play games until the wee morning hours but this year my sister-in-law, Jenny, and Jason’s Aunt Anne decided to

brave the crazies with the holiday shopping.

We started at Wal-Mart and I’m pretty sure people were making fun of us because we had NO CLUE what was going on.

We finally caught on and scored a few things but it wasn’t as awesome as I had hoped.

From there we went to Target only to find the line WAY too long for us to stand in the cold so we headed to

Toys R Us and WHOA is all I can say!  The line inside to check out was wrapped around the entire store and SO not worth standing in.

We THEN went back to Target to see if they had opened the doors only to find out they were only letting in

50 at a time, which again was not worth it to us.

To Kohl’s we went and we found some great deals but by that point we were ready for bed and not in the mood to stand in line.

Friday the three of us went back to Kohl’s and Target to score on some more great buys!

I got MOST of our gifts purchased and we got to enjoy some shopping without children! 🙂

While we shopped Jason and his dad put up our Christmas lights!

The boys were trying to “help” but they were basically just getting in the way.

Friday night we played the game of Things, which I highly recommend for ANY group of adults!

We were all laughing so hard I almost peed my pants.

Saturday I got to do a Stella & Dot trunk show for a dear friend’s mother, which was a lot of fun.

Great holiday and now we are ready for CHRISTMAS!!!

Until next post…

9/11

9/11 is Jason’s cousin’s birthday as well as Grandparent’s Day this year.  We had a big family gathering at Grandma & Grandpa’s house for a cookout and then went to the park.

The house was covered with balloons, which the boys LOVED!.

Sutton & Pappy

Fynn & Bear hanging on the stairs.  His first “boo boo” skinned knee.

COUSINS

Cousin Miranda – Birthday Girl!!

Sutton & Grandma – Sutton seems excited about all the cake & ice cream!

We went to feed the ducks but I think they were full.  They wouldn’t come eat our bread.

Fynn enjoyed playing with the package more than anything.

Sutton yelling for the ducks.  He loves to say, “quack!”

No ducks.  🙁

We went to the playground instead and rode the slides.

Kiki would help get the boys up the stairs…

Daddy would help the boys get down the slide..

Then Pappy would catch us at the bottom…

These boys were all covered in dirt and their clothes became different colors.

We had to stop for a water break.

Onto the next park with Kiki

Cousin Eric coming down the slide

Sutton’s turn.  This child cannot sit up straight to come down a slide!

Fynn and his tongue!

Cousin Elliot just chilled in her stroller and cheered for the boys!  It was so cute, she would just CLAP and CLAP!

We had a great day!  Besides getting completely filthy and hot it was lots of fun and I’m certain all these kiddos slept well!

I think this is the best way to remember 9/11.  Enjoying quality time with family and reminding ourselves to be thankful for each minute together.

Until next post…
