Christmas

December 2012

Ahhhh, I WILL be better with keeping up my blog this year!!  Here’s a recap of December.  Busy month.  Fun Month.
We made Christmas cookies with Aubrey and Cam.
We also went on the Christmas Train, which I think will be an annual tradition from here on out!
Fynn was so excited for the train ride and Sutton was a little tired and quiet but when we got to the carousel he completely brightened up.  He was so happy on there and could have stayed on it all night.
We listened to carol singers, ate yummy stew and cornbread, ride mini horses and drank hot chocolate.

Christmas was a little difficult this year without Grandma.
Luckily the boys being another year old made it more fun because they were finally into opening presents and santa and the whole bit.
Uncle Jordan came to visit as well.
Fynn completely did this on his own.  Once he put those glasses on he became an entirely different boy.
The boys are complete wrestlers lately.
Seriously.
We were at a nice Christmas party and they started wrestling in the middle of the floor.
Of course everyone there thought it was so cute and funny but I was mortified.
Luckily they are 2 (ALMOST 3) so we can get away with it for now.
Fynn asked Santa for a race car and Sutton asked for a microphone.
And grandpa Jim and Linda sent this awesome roller coaster!
Papa O gave some awesome stocking stuffers and Sutton loved his Cars magazine.
Aunt Kim and Uncle Tom got this awesome double sided race track that they LOVE!
Miranda got them these cute books that Sutton loves.
Although I love the Christmas decorations I was happy to have our house back to normal once we took everything down.
And of course we had our annual play date with our twin friends!

My goal for 2013 is to do a better job at document my babies since they are almost 3 and no longer babies but BIG BOYS!

Until next post…

Homemade Gifts

Posted in Holidays by

This post is late….OF COURSE!!!

This year my sister-in-law and I decided to make homemade ornaments for the grandparents and great-grandparents.  These are the best, most sentimental gifts that will last forever!  I always love doing stuff like this and thanks to Pinterest we were full of ideas!

All it took was some flour, salt and water!

Cousin Eric was super excited to smash his hand in the dough!

We did one of Elliot’s foot instead of hand.
Gotta love chubby baby feet!

ALL DONE READY FOR PAINT!
Sutton painting his.
It kind of worked out great because when Jenny brought her kiddos over to paint Sutton woke up but Fynn stayed asleep so I was able to do just one at a time.

And of course everyone LOVED them!

Until next post…

Christmas 2011

Posted in Holidays by

Christmas has come and gone.  It goes by so fast!

We had a wonderful holiday and the boys of course were spoiled.

Our game room has barely any room left for anything else!

We got the boys a keyboard and drum set but they aren’t too annoying.  The boys LOVE both!

Papa O got them a new workbench.

Grandpa & Grandma got them ponies!  They were scared of them at first but as you can see that is no more.

They got a new table and chairs so no more highchairs for us!  YAY!

They got the new early rider bikes from my dad and Linda, which they are still trying to get the hang of.

They also got a tent with the tunnel, which is a HUGE hit!

We opened all the presents Christmas Eve but Christmas morning they got the bikes, the work bench, a slide and their shopping carts.
Christmas day we went over to Kiki & Pappy’s for Christmas dinner.

Fynn & Uncle Jordan

3 cousins on a trampoline!

Great holiday.  Ready for the NEW YEAR!!!

Until next post…

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Posted in Holidays, Uncategorized by

I’ve been slacking…yet again I say this…but we have just been busy enjoying this time of year.

I turned 31 on the 7th.  I went to a fun Christmas party for a bunch of ladies, which was fun since we got to hang out in our PJs.  I’ve had a few Stella & Dot trunk shows, which is nice to have the extra spending money for the holidays.  Jason has been working on the fence….SO CLOSE to being done.  In the midst of all that we have two awesome little boys keeping us entertained and busy.

Since 1999 I have DREADED the holidays.  Christmas of 1998 was 2 months TO THE DAY before my mom passed and we spent it on a Disney cruise and a trip to Florida with our entire family on my mom’s side.  It was a lot of fun but that was when my mom first got sick and missed a lot of the activities.  Since then, I’ve missed her SO much during the holidays.  She was the one who was in charge of it all…..cooking, decorating, wrapping, etc.

Our tradition was we would get to open ONE gift on Christmas Eve but the rest was for Christmas morning.  We’d sit around in our jammies, eating breakfast and opening gifts.  We tried different scenarios – go around and each open one gift at a time, each person opens all their gifts at once, etc.  Gifts would get mixed up – one year Jordan (my brother) got Mariah Carey and I got Red Hot Chili Peppers (today I can say I would MUCH rather RHCP!) and we would all laugh and enjoy the awesomeness that was that time together.

The year after my mom passed I met Jason and spent that first dreaded holiday season with his family.  At one point I had to step outside because the level of love, fun, excitement, joy and comfort was overwhelming.  In the last 12 years it has become my favorite time.

My in-laws have different traditions.  Christmas Eve we sit around and open all our gifts – going youngest to oldest.  I think one year we drew numbers to determine the order but that didn’t seem to last.  Every year we say “we are not buying gifts for everyone….let’s draw names.”  FAILS every year!  Last year we attempted to do JUST the babies and then play dirty santa but with good gifts and that was a lot of fun but did everyone end up buying everyone presents – YEP!

Last year was the boys’ first Christmas and it was also my first holiday season I looked forward to since 1998.  Having children has healed that part of me but not fully.  I don’t think it will ever be healed FULLY….just cured a bit with the grins I see when I walk in their room Christmas morning.

The boys bring so much joy to my holidays now.  Seeing everything for the first time through their eyes is truly one of the most amazing experiences one cannot even put into words.  Last Christmas they were not even one so it wasn’t much to them.  This year….totally different.  They LOVE Christmas lights and they love our tree as well.  We put all the non-breakable ornaments on the lower part of our tree this year and they haven’t managed to do any damage so that’s good.

Christmas morning is when we will do “Santa” gifts, which this year they are going to be coming downstairs to find their very own SLIDE for our house (which can be used outside as well as in our gameroom), a new workbench from Papa O and two of these:

Yes they have helmets with them!

Until next post…
