Today my loves…

Today marks 9 years I have been married to your daddy.  Nine years of marriage that have flown by too fast!

Daddy and I met the very first day I arrived at Oklahoma State University in August 1999…wow I feel old typing that!  We didn’t technically start dating until that October but I knew the night I met him, he was someone special.  We never exchanged numbers or anything but happened to run into each other at a party that October night.  I saw your dad across the group of people and we made eye contact.  A few minutes later he walked up to me and told me I was beautiful.  We spent the entire evening talking and laughing.  We went with some friends to Wal-mart (I know, romantic right?) and we played in the toy aisle forever!  I still have my Star Wars toy we bought that night.  We went to Whataburger and ate with friends and then watched the sun come up at the lake.  As our friends dropped me off I didn’t know if I would see him again.  I knew we were meant to be together so on my way to class that morning I left a note on his Jeep.  And the rest is history!

We were young and in love but we also spent a lot of time talking about things….politics, religion, family, kids, careers, etc.  We had SO much fun together!  Your daddy was not only my boyfriend at the time but he became my best friend.  I met your dad shortly after my mom passed away and he was such a gift from God and I believe put in my life at that time for a reason.  He truly helped me grieve my mother’s death and was such a pillar of strength for me.  For the first time in a long time I felt I had someone protecting me.

Over the past 12.5 years we have endured a lot of sad times as well as happy times.  We have experienced deaths….some so sudden the shock still stings and some not so sudden yet equally painful.  We have suffered a miscarriage as well as the trials of infertility.  We have celebrated mommy’s graduation from Oklahoma State University and Daddy’s graduation from Cleveland Chiropractic College.  Most importantly, we were abundantly blessed with your arrival.  We prayed for years for a baby and we got such an amazing double blessing.

Through all the ups and downs your daddy has been my strength and my comfort.  He loves me unconditionally.  He tells me I’m beautiful, stunning, awesome, incredible all the time.  He is truly the best Daddy!  You boys adore your daddy and rightfully so.  He is always bragging about you and telling everyone what new things you are learning and funny things you might be doing at the time.  He wrestles, takes you on your balance bikes, tickles you, teaches you new things and most of all he loves you with every ounce of his heart.  When I met your daddy I knew he would be the best father to our children!  I was right.

As I look back on 9 years of marriage I think about how I felt when I married your dad and how I thought I couldn’t love him more but I honestly fall more in love with him with each day that comes.  I pray for you boys to one day feel this way about your wives.  I pray you love unconditionally.  I pray you find yourself in relationships that allow you to be yourself, that allow you to grow and evolve, that make you enjoy life and that you find someone you fall deeper in love with over the days and years that pass.  I hope you look to your daddy on how to be a husband and father.  He is the best role model around!

So today my loves know that I love your daddy with all my heart.

Until next post…

Today my loves…

…was your 3rd Easter holiday and the first without Grandma.  It felt like something was missing all day.
…you slept in until 9 then we had to wake you so we could go to church.
…you walked right into church and started playing with the bubble machine!
…you wanted your windows down on the highway to Claremore.
Nothing like the wind blowing in your hair!
…you hunted Easter eggs.
…you ate more candy than you have probably ever eaten in one setting (bribery for photos)
…you showed love when helping each other pick up your eggs and not trying to steal them.
…you wanted me to sit next to you when watching cartoons, which I will always cherish because I know one day too soon you won’t care if I am sitting next to you or across the room.
…you didn’t eat a very good lunch, goldfish mainly.
…you wanted to watch Toy Story AGAIN!
…you skipped naps, which made for an early bedtime.
…you went around and gave everyone kisses when it was time to leave.
…you WANTED to brush your teeth, something I will also remember when you fight me on it later in life.
…you reminded me I have SO much to be thankful for in my life and I thank JESUS for you two EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Today my loves you made me love you EVEN more!

Today my loves…

…you woke up SUPER happy.
…you got to see Uncle Kelly for a little bit.
…you got sad when Daddy and Uncle Kelly had to leave for Claremore.
…showed multiple examples of sharing, each made me melt!  You even hugged and kissed TWICE!
…Sutton, you were attached to Mommy!  You spent most of the morning snuggled in my lap.
…you ate A LOT! Besides naptime you ate non-stop for all but 2 hours of the day.  You ate more than me.
…you played with your cousins!
…you asked to watch the Wiggles 3 times….yes THREE!  Their songs are now stuck in my head.  Thank you for that.
…you shared an entire can of green beans so to reward you I took you to Braum’s for strawberry ice cream.  Sutton finished first then Fynn shared his with him while the two giggled and giggled…I’m sure it was a sugar high.
…you were SUPER gassy!  Yes, GASSY!
…you “face-timed” with Daddy while you ate your ice cream since he is still in Claremore.
…you got excited to brush your teeth after a bubble bath in Mommy’s BIG tub!
…you kept bringing me books before bed….I gave in and read three.
…you made me laugh and smile!  I put Sutton in his bed first and Fynn came over and peaked in Sutton’s crib to say, “night night bubba” then they said, “lub you.”  UGH does it get any sweeter!  TEARS!
…I realized how fast you are growing up and it’s making me want to spend every single second with you….I don’t want to miss anything!

Today my loves you made me love you EVEN more!

Today my loves…..

….made me a happy mommy by sleeping until 8:45 a.m.
…warmed my heart when I hear “thank you” after I give them oatmeal for breakfast.
…made me laugh when they jumped on the trampoline together giggling.
…made me proud when they were playing and Fynn found both bouncy balls and then gave one to Sutton.  And in return Sutton said “Thank You” and gave his brother a kiss.
…grossed me out when Sutton picked his nose and ate it
…surprised me when Sutton WANTED to put on his winter hat and gloves…that is usually a battle.
…frustrated me when Fynn would NOT sit down to eat dinner.
…gave me perspective when we said our bedtime prayers.
…turned my heart to mush when I put them down for bed and they said “night night lub you mama”

Today my loves you made me love you EVEN more.

Until next post…
