Boys,

Today you are 2 1/2 years old and you share this day with your daddy’s birthday.  So on this day I want to tell you a little about the man you were BLESSED with as a father.

You should always be proud of your daddy!  He is such a man of character and faith that you should try to follow his example.

He is incredibly intelligent.  If you ever have trouble learning something or trying to figure something out, go to your dad.  He has built a deck, finished a basement, built a car from scratch and even built a fence all by teaching himself.  He is always learning new things and can retain knowledge like no other!

He is the most compassionate, honest, loyal person I know.  He has a strong faith that inspires me to stay on the path to Christ.  He has a sensitive heart to those in need and he taught me the true meaning in tithing.  He doesn’t lie and if someone needs his help, he is there.  The best part is he NEVER asks for anything in return.  He will help a friend move, fix his grandparents’ computer, help his sister set up a website, you name it…he helps others all the time.

Your daddy followed his dream, even when it was a tough road, he did it.  He didn’t decide to become a chiropractor until later in his 20’s but he said to me it was and always will be his PASSION.  HE LOVES WHAT HE DOES.  He gets so excited helping people feel better.  This characteristic has inspired me to do things I never even considered before meeting him.  Let his example be a valuable lesson in life.  Don’t ever hesitate to do what you LOVE.

And your daddy LOVES LOVES LOVES you boys!  He is the daddy getting on the floor wrestling, building forts, teaching you to ride bikes, teaching you to catch a ball or throw a ball and he is the daddy who snuggles with you and kisses your boo boos.  He is the daddy ALL kids should have.

Your dad is a wonderful example of how to treat your future wife.  Your daddy constantly shows me how much he loves me and tells me I’m beautiful all the time, even when I have no make-up on and in gym clothes.  He remembers to surprise me with little things…like a last minute dinner date, a homemade gift from you boys, little things that add up.

I pray every day you get these values from your daddy as you grown into men.

We LOVE you daddy!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Until next post…

Christmas…in October

Posted in Fynn, Grandma, Jason, Playtime, Sutton by

This past weekend the boys probably thought it was Christmas!  The Just Between Friends consignment sale was in town and BOY DID I SCORE!!  I consigned their winter clothes as well as volunteered so I got to shop early AND earned $5 toward any purchase I made.

Jason and I have been discussing what to get the boys for Christmas this year as well as their birthday in January.  One of the items on our list was a toy work bench with tools.  Well I found one at the consignment sale for $15!  But with my $5 volunteer gift it was $10.  WOO HOO!  I have never shopped consignment sales but the feeling of SUCCESS was awesome!  Then seeing how much fun the boys had with it made it even better.

Yes, that is a toy drill you see.

Seriously…cutest picture EVER!  Daddy teaching Sutton how to cut a fake piece of wood.
MELT MY HEART!

I’m POSITIVE with my husband for a dad, these boys will be building stuff out in the garage before I can blink.

Just hammerin’ away

He’s so focused.

Hmm, which tool will I need?

The OTHER big toys came from great grandma and grandpa.  They got the boys their first battery-powered TRUCKS!

Oh my goodness, it was SO cute watching them!

They seemed so much older to me behind the wheel of their first vehicles.

Fynn’s face in the background cracks me up!

He looks so grown up!

Check out these two studs!

Until next post…

DUCKS!!!

Posted in Fynn, Grandma, Jason, Outside, Sutton by

Jason’s grandma wanted us to bring the boys out and take them to the lake to feed the ducks.  We drove over to Grandma and Grandpas for dinner and Jason’s Aunt Kim came along with us.  We were so excited because the boys have yet to see REAL ducks, they just see pictures and say “QUACK.”  Fynn jumped right in and LOVED them.  Sutton took a little bit longer but by the time we were leaving he wasn’t ready to go.  They both would throw the bread and then CLAP with such pride.  These ducks were fearless and all they cared about was the bread.

Thanks Grandma!

We had to clap for our good throwing skills!

Me and My Sutton

After we fed the ducks we went over to the playground to PLAY!!!

This was GENIUS!  I wish ALL parks had a double slide.

The boys had SOOOO much fun they were WORN OUT!!!  I cannot wait to take them back, especially once it cools off a bit.  The boys were SO hot but didn’t want to stop playing.  We tried to get a picture of the boys with their great grandparents but they were not cooperating.  Next time we will get the photo BEFORE we show them the playground.

Thanks Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Kim!!!  We love you!

What A Mess

Posted in Fynn, Jason, Mealtime, Sutton, Twins by

I’ve mentioned before how messy our boys are when it comes to mealtime.  The other night was the messiest it has ever been.  They had some organic ziti with broccoli and focaccia bread.  Then they had blueberries with dessert.  We had to strip them down and clean them off in the kitchen sink.  What a mess it was!!!

Sutton is WAY messier than Fynn that is for sure.

I’m thinking we should work on being cleaner…..they do start preschool one month from today.

Vroom Vroom

Posted in Fynn, Jason, Jordan, Playtime, Sutton, Twins by

Yes, that is what I now say on a daily basis, “vroom vroom.”  I am the mother of twin boys so it was inevitable, right?

Our new obsession is CARS, TRUCKS and anything with WHEELS that we can push around and say, “vroom vroom.”

Gotta love the BELLY!

Watch it go!

One in each hand.

I have to admit…..I love being a mom to boys.  Growing up with an older brother, Jordan, I was always into G.I. Joe, baseball cards, Star Wars and boy things.  Yes, my mother TRIED so hard to get me to LOVE ballet, dance and girly things, but I was a tomboy at heart.  When we were finding out the gender of our twins I was PETRIFIED of twin girls.  I didn’t know if I could handle all the PINK and DOLLS and GIRLY things.  When the woman doing our gender sonogram announced it was twin boys I felt a bit of relief.  Jason, on the other hand, was HOPING for one of each so he took a few minutes to convince it was TWO boys.  Even my OB had to literally pull the sonogram photo out and POINT OUT the boy parts on BOTH babies.  It was comical.  The DAD took convincing while I was content with my two little buddies.  We always said we would have TWO babies, we just didn’t think it would be a “two-for-one” deal so I think the ideal outcome would be one of each and be done.

Everyone always asks if we will have more.  GOD WILLING we have one more.  Yes, I only wanted two kids at first but things are different now.  Having twins means my kids will BOTH turn 16 at the same time, graduate high school at the same time, etc.  I would like to stagger out those moments if possible.  And even though I had a HORRIBLE pregnancy, I kind of want to experience it once more.

Now, being surrounded by ALL BOYS I wouldn’t mind a little girl down the road…..maybe ONE day. 🙂  All that being said, it’s all in God’s hands.  Either way, I’m so happy to have my BUDDIES to play cars with every day.

Until next post…

Chiropractic Babies

Our boys are PURE chiropractic babies!  They have been getting adjusted since birth and it has truly helped with their overall health as well as Sutton’s hip dysplasia.  They are 18 months old and have only had ONE very MINOR cold with a 100 degree temperature for only a day.  I give all the credit to chiropractic and of course GOD.  Thankfully we have a chiropractor for a Daddy.

Once every couple of weeks I take the boys in to get adjusted and they are now at the age where they just walk right up to the adjusting chair and climb in.  They LOVE it! 🙂

Fynn usually jumps in the seat first.

Sutton’s turn!

Sutton getting adjusted on the table and he usually gets his hips checked just to be sure everything is still doing good.

July 19 Part II – 18 Months Old

**I’ve had technical difficulties so this post has taken a few days to get up!

I have 1 1/2 year olds!!!!!  So crazy to think about how fast it has all gone by!

At 18 months old my boys are pretty much AMAZING!  They are sooo adorable, fun, smart, sweet, funny and too many things to capture into one sentence.  They are so smart….or at least we think so.  You show them how to do something once they pick it up.  That might be a bad thing down the road.  They say mama, dada, banana (nana), ball (baw) and Sutton just learned “no” and Fynn learned “dirty.”  They do a LOT of jibber jabber and “twin talk,” which is hysterical to watch.  They get so serious and you can tell one will be telling the other something very important.

Fynn or Fynnie or Fynnie Boy is my sweet, sensitive, calm child.  He has always been a little studious one.  He LOVES books and figuring out objects and spaces and how everything works.  When I make a “fish face” at him he spends the next few minutes REALLY trying hard to figure out how to do it.

He still loves to play with balls….basketballs, soccer balls, bouncy balls, any balls he likes.  He loves to pick one up and say “baw” all loud and proud.

Most of the time he goes RIGHT to sleep when he gets in his crib for nap or bedtime.  He loves to brush his teeth and pick up stuff off the floor to help mommy clean.  Sutton enjoys emptying the ball pit in the game room and Fynn will start putting them back in right away.  He is working on his 2nd molars and just now has started to fuss a bit.  He hasn’t fussed a bit through 18 months of teething!  This boy LOVES cartoons.  It is scary how focused he gets when they are on.  He likes music and will dance with a serious face.  It’s comical from my point of view.  He had become a bit less picky with food….this boy would not TOUCH meat or veggies and was very picky about everything once we went to finger foods.  He has started eating organic all beef hot dogs, meatloaf, strawberries, oranges and more.  He even ate broccoli!

He likes to point and talk but I just wish I could understand what he was trying to tell me.  I can tell him to go pick up something and bring it to me and he will.  He still has the craziest hair!  Those two cowlicks in the back will sure frustrate any hairdresser in the future.  Fynn is the more independent child and does not need a lot of affection, even though we smother him with loving!  He could be content just running around on his own.  He is overall mostly calm yet sometimes he gets a spark and will RUN and RUN and LAUGH!!  And he loves to give “high-fives!”

Sutton or Sutty or Bubba is my passionate child.  He smiles and laughs straight from the gut!  He will do something good like fit a puzzle piece in its spot and will look up at you as if he is saying, “Did you see?”  I am always watching for these looks to give him that reinforcement he needs.

He is definitely more cuddly and affectionate.  He will chase his brother around trying to give him hugs and kisses.  He will OPEN MOUTH kiss too and it’s hysterical because he won’t give just one kiss, he has to give multiple.    He LOVES to turn things over and make a mess!  His favorite thing is to flip the ball pit over and then run around in the balls laughing!

He tends to throw tantrums, which we are working on but this kid is mild compared to some so I won’t complain too much about them.  He too hasn’t fussed much at all in 18 months of teething!  He loves to just chew on his hand or try and bite everything….toys, books, spoons, etc.  Sutton is GREAT at sharing….for the most part!  If his brother does not have a toy like he does, he will pick it up and bring it to him even if Fynn wasn’t looking for it.  He makes sure Fynn has his bear every time Sutton has his mouse.  He loves to walk around the game room and pick up toys and bring them to me with a big grin on his face.  And he loves to bring you SHOES!  He will literally pick each one up and bring it to you.

And this kid is CHATTY!  He will just jibber jabber ALL DAY LONG….in his crib, at breakfast, in the car, before bed.  ALL THE TIME!  He even softly hums when we put him down for bed, as if he hasn’t been able to get out all he is trying to say during the day.  He too loves to dance and really loves to do the “fist pump” especially in the car.  He is sooo goofy he makes us laugh every day.

The boys are on a great schedule now.  We moved to one nap a day a month or so ago.  They wake at about 8/8:30 and I make their breakfast while they talk in their cribs and entertain themselves.  Once I bring them down and we eat breakfast, we will either go run errands or go play or if they are still a little cranky and tired we’ll cuddle up and watch some Sprout.  If we run errands it is kind of limited to only place with double carts or places where our double stroller will fit.  We will also go see Daddy at the chiropractic office and get adjusted!  They eat lunch around noon and then go down for a nap around 12:45/1 and will usually sleep anywhere from 2-3.5 hours.  When they wake from their nap they get a snack and a TINY bit of juice diluted with water.  Then we either run errands (if we didn’t in the morning) or we play, sometimes outside.  We have a sand/water table, bubbles, a lawnmower, sidewalk chalk, etc.  It’s been SO HOT outside we don’t last long out there or we just wait until before bed.  THEY LOVE THE WATER HOSE!!!

We’ve also been going to the splash park and our neighborhood pool.  The neighborhood pool is AWESOME for toddlers because the entry to the water is like a ramp so they can walk and play in the water without a parents having to hold them the entire time.

Life is getting more and more fun with these two.  They are my little buddies that is for sure!

Until next post..

July 19

Posted in Birthday, Fynn, Jason, Sutton by

July 19 is a big day in our house.  It is Daddy’s birthday and the boys’ half birthday.  So, to start this post off right we will wish our daddy of the house HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!  What an incredible man I have!  Over the past 12 years I’ve always tried to make his birthday a big deal….I’ve thrown a few surprise parties and a BIG party for his 30th.  This year we didn’t do anything BIG but it was just as nice.  I baked him a cake.  Oh boy did it turn out beautiful.  This is when I wish I could create a “sarcasm” font.  It wasn’t pretty but it sure tasted good!  We had dinner at a local hibachi restaurant with the family and the boys entertained us the entire time of course.

Back to my man.  Jason is always showing me how much he loves me.  He had done so many simple, yet amazingly romantic things….made his very own Valentine’s Day card with a paper rose and all back in college, he had a custom poem written for me for our anniversary this year, he would pick me up from class with a rose just because, he has stopped in the middle of a random day just to slow dance and the list goes on.  Even better he has been an incredible father.  He never missed a feeding, even in the middle of the night when he would have to get up and go to school the next day.  He has never once mentioned any hint of a complaint at missing out on certain events because we have kids now.  And he is always so involved the minute he gets home from work.

He truly cares about his patients and is an awesome chiropractor.  He puts his heart and soul into his work and wants to be the best he can be because he wants to help people.

I do thank God every day for my man.

We love you Daddy!

Happy Birthday to my amazing man!
